My name is Tom Beckman, I am a freelance photographer based in Ithaca, NY.
I started out in the world of photography at 9 years old with a Canon AE-1. Shooting through rolls of inexpensive drugstore film, and then dropping it off for the one hour photo development.
Next, my parents pulled off extreme awesomeness by getting me a Canon Rebel XTI one year as a gift. This was an incredible surprise, and built my love for photography even more.
High school started the next evolution in my photography journey. Yes, high school photography class with Mr. Holden. He was a great teacher. This is where I learned the more technical aspects of making a photo. I also learned to develop film myself. A very relaxing, yet exciting process.
With a passion for unique cameras and photographs alike I continue to push myself to make interesting images.
Is inspired by late 90s/early 2000s BMX and Skateboarking editorial Photography. Using classic and modern technology, I try to make interesting pieces with a more intense and dramatic feel. My work has been featured on OurBmx.com multiple times along with features on Ride Bmx, FBMbmx.com, and Ridepabmx.com.
